The Soundscape Association of Japan was established in 1993 with the aim of facilitating the exchange of information and views relating to the concept of soundscapes through dialogue with people interested in sound and the environment, including researchers working in a variety of disciplines, public officials, educators, companies, and the general public. Members of the association are now involved in a wide variety of soundscape-related activities throughout Japan, from Hokkaido in the north to Okinawa in the south. The association officially represents Japan at the World Forum for Acoustic Ecology(WFAE), an international collective of organizations involved in the field of soundscapes.
